Sable Drive is commissioning an illustrator for our upcoming release Sinister Soul Sister. This will be a bold, black-and-white visual storytelling project that pairs gothic futurism with comic book intensity.
What We’re Looking For
- Dark, DC Comics–inspired style (Batman: The Killing Joke, Swamp Thing, Justice League Dark).
- Strictly black-and-white artwork: heavy shadows, cross-hatching, dramatic line weight.
- Strong use of negative space and texture to convey emotion.
- A world that feels both industrial and gothic-futuristic.
Key Imagery
- The Fembot / Sinister Soul Sister: a sleek yet unsettling human-machine hybrid, expressive yet mechanical, capable of horror and sorrow.
- The Child: fragile and innocent, drawn with softer lines to contrast the machinery.
- The World: ruined tech, eerie industrial textures, and cinematic lighting.

- The fembot lying dormant in a frost-covered coffin.
- A child awakening her at a cracked control panel.
- Her explosive rise from the machinery.
- A moment of haunting self-awareness.
- A destructive warpath through soldiers and ruin.
- Her ultimate transcendence over a broken city—half angel, half monster.
Timeline
- We need to confirm an artist by August 31, 2025.
- At least two illustrations must be completed by September 8, 2025 so the single cover is ready on time.
