Stories About Us
Sable Drive is an ongoing project born in 2003 as the brainchild of artist Stan Ascher. First emerging as a nameless, somewhat amorphous rock concept, Sable Drive has since grown into a creative force that has united a slew of talented artists to date — its moniker, set in stone more than a decade after its foundation, paying homage to the street where Ascher would throw block parties and meet many of his future collaborators. Building on the groundwork laid by legends from Nick Cave and The B-52s to Jack White, Joy Division, Sleep and beyond, Sable Drive takes the classic rock sound on an indie, goth, oldies, and metal-flecked detour through the sonic lenses of both Ascher and his ever-evolving, ephemeral lineup, each release reflecting a different chapter, sometimes familiar, sometimes completely new. Now, following a string of achievements, including recording an EP with renowned engineer Don Zlentara, securing a regular series of shows at the Galactic Panther gallery, and partnering with circus and sideshow acts to deliver a consistently unforgettable live experience for a diverse and growing global fanbase, Sable Drive is gearing up for its biggest year yet, with another EP and more shows in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
