Formed in 2015, Mayors of Marble Falls have been off and on members of the DC music scene. Mayors was initially formed by Eric Dillon (Guitar), Mike Sager (Guitar), and Shawn Sukumar (Drums), along with two other friends. Dillon, Sager, and Sukumar had previously played together in Constant Alarm in 2010 through 2012 and made regular appearances at Rock & Roll Hotel, DC9, Iota, and other DC and Virginia area venues. In 2017, Louise Rothschild (Vocals), formerly of Bonjour, Ganesh! joined up with Mayors, and Lawrence Proudfoot (Bass) joined in 2023. With a guitar-forward sound that features interplay and weaving, Mayors are inspired by everything from 60s jangle to 80s college rock to the post-punk revival and alt-country of the early 2000s. The results are songs that are simultaneously familiar while uniquely their own. The band probably could be described as “dad rock,” as long as one counts pet parents in that description.
Mayors began working on a new record in 2022, recording on and off at Ivakota in Washington DC, and expect to release it in early 2024. While the final tracklist is still to be determined, some of the songs range from the political (Saffron), to the personal (Can I Let Go Now, Lake Michigan), and occasionally both (Berlin).
